The Literary Junkie

{May 10, 2007}   Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your Submission:

First of all I want to thank you for submitting to The Literary Junkie Anthology. We are currently only able to pay recognition for stories. We do hope to provide a contributor copy to all who submit but this is not guaranteed. We are hoping to at least make the E~Book free for contributors.

We are currently accepting: Flash Fiction, Short Stories, Poetry, Creative Nonfiction, Literary Criticism, Book Reviews, Interviews. Basically anything as long as it fits the theme.

Please forgive the formal tone of the guidelines. They are only formal for legality purposes. If you have any problems or concerns regarding your submission feel free to contact us and we will work something out.

We are author’s first, and we are doing this for fun and not for profit. This is an excellent opportunity for new and unpublished author’s to get their work published. We will be looking for quality pieces, but we don’t care where or if you have been published before. And this will allow new author’s to build a little bit of street credit. And who knows maybe it will take off. It has happened before. Blue has promised to pitch it his agent. And if isn’t accepted we do intend to promote the work and if it raises enough capital, we will look towards distributing on a larger scale.

Please submit work to:

bsp[nospam]submissions@gmail.com removing the [nospam] part and don’t forget the period after submissions.

Theme:

The theme of the anthology is of course the Literary Junkie. All works should play off this theme somehow. It does not have to be a story about drug or alcohol addiction. You can be addicted to anything. Mostly the work should appeal to those who are addicted to literature. Character driven fiction is preferred but don’t be afraid to get surreal either. Other than that I can’t say much except to say don’t be afraid to submit a work. If it doesn’t fit for this anthology it might fit for another anthology we are working on. Grammar is very important but the story is the most important. Mostly we want to say: Don’t be afraid to submit it. We all know how difficult and stressful it is trying to get published. It’s a feat that we have only achieved here and there. We judge the work and not the author.

Content:

Content must be R rated or below. Our intended audience is intended for adults over 18 but at the same time we don’t want to get too controversial due to publisher content limitations.

Previously Published Work:

Blue Skelton Publications does not accept previously published work for obvious reasons. We do however accept simultaneous submissions if specified. Please let us know if your work is published elsewhere as soon as possible.

Acceptance and Rejections:

We are writers and we understand the nail-biting that derives from submitting work. But please understand that we are also struggling writers with hectic day jobs and lives. We will do our best to correspond with you in a timely manner, but please forgive us if we are unable to get back with you quickly. For this reason we accept simultaneous submissions but please let us know if your work is being published elsewhere as soon as possible and definitely prior to its publication.

Hint:

Be polite. We will attempt to do the same. We are doing this for fun and to connect with other writers. It isn’t likely that any of us are going to make a fortune off of it. We are not interested in dealing with people that are impolite or hostile. Our intention is to work together to achieve notoriety for all of us. If we do become successful we will not abandon those of you who helped build our success.

Submissions:

We currently only accept electronic submissions.

Please place the text of your submission in the body of the email. Please allow an extra two spaces in between paragraphs (internet formatting) with no indention. Please use a font size of 14 if possible. The email should begin with “For Submission” – Title of Your Story

Rights:

In addition, we ask for no posting of the accepted story anywhere on the Web, or in print in the United States or Canada, for 30 days after its exclusive appearance.
